Good Times

I love being a mom. Monday, it was a different story. I should have been fired and I would have been happy about it too, but the rest of this week has been awesome and has made me so grateful that I get to raise these girls.
Sydney is starting to say her name and it is so nasally that you can't help but laugh every time she says it and points to herself. She still puts her blanket over her head and walks into you to make you laugh, only now she includes a big bite to get your attention. It hurts, but is cute at the same time- so she keeps biting because we keep laughing. (Claire has her own fashion sense-as seen in photo above)
I want Sydney to stay small forever. I love her petite body, nose, and mouth. I make her kiss me all the time.
I can't wait till she talks to me though. I just know once we know her thoughts, she will make us laugh more than she already does.
We celebrated Claire's Birthday a couple days early due to Lyndon leaving for San Diego for a month to do an opthamology rotation.  I kept having this song go through my head and teared up quite often knowing how fast time is going by. (mind you- this song is much better sung by my Dad).
Claire requested a "Wonder Woman costume" for her Birthday. Don't ask why a totally screwed up the "w" and made a golden bat of sorts...I'm bugged about it. She on the other hand did not care a wink and loved it! Whew!

The party was a hit too! It was the first of it's kind- 7 friends came and none were allowed to bring gifts. I am a mean mom like that. There are so many parties around here that a parent can go broke trying to keep up. I told Claire her friends were her presents and she was fine with that too, 2nd whew!
Sydney of course had to steal the show with a strip tease and dance in the mud and then hug the boys. (I will erase that comment when she is older ;) )
Ah, life is so very very good.

Oooh la la-- you throw some risque parties! Your girls look so much older to me. Happy (early) birthday, Claire.

I've handed in my resume many many times as mother, but no one seems to notice. That must mean I work at a nut house, because the expectations for my job are apparently very low in my family.

I love your posts, and you have such a cute family!!! You are real, and that is what I love best. We always request no presents at birthdays too because we want our kids to value family and friendships over things. I love that you make so much stuff yourself! I am so very very envious of your abilities there!! Someday I will get a sewing machine and see how miserably I fail at it! ;)

You say it so well...although this week I would have liked to have been fired many times over ;)
They are such pretty little ladies, and I am super impressed by your sewing skills! What a fun mom--what lucky girls! (And that stinks to have your hubby gone so long! ew!)

Happy Birthday! I always ask no presents to be brought to parties (tired of throwing away dollar store toys...) but no one ever listens. Great costume too!

Claire is looking so grown up! And Sydney is darling as ever... even naked, haha!

Happy birthday to Claire! I hope your month away from Lyndon goes by quickly.

We ask people not to bring presents, and if no one tells us to, we don't bring presents to other kids' parties. We are real bums!

Everything looks great.

Hi, Melissa! I just rediscovered your blog. Your girls are so sweet and so grown! I do the same with my girls' birthday parties--no gifts. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
